Life Reset

In 2016 I sold everything I could, threw away what I couldn’t, and began a new life living in a 6×12 cargo trailer that I had converted into a camper of sorts.

I left the busy, crowded southeastern United States and headed out west where the mountains touch the sky and towns are only as close as you want them to be. I discovered there is more out here than I could have imagined. I had done research, of course, but the size and scope of the western United States is amazing, and much of it covered in public land! That is: National Forests, and BLM, as well as State Land and National Parks.

I have traveled full time for 3 years now, seldom staying the same place very long, and can’t imagine ever seeing it all in one lifetime. There are no words for the beauty, the vastness, the sheer breathlessness I have felt visiting these amazing places. Now get this…it’s all free. That’s right. No rent or mortgage, no RV park fees, nothing…free.

I started this web log to share with you all just how I did this, how simple it is, and how much better my life is now than it’s ever been living on a concrete slab with a bunch of stuff.

I soon traded the cargo trailer and three-wheeler for a truck camper and an enduro motorcycle. It was almost an exact swap – sale day was purchase day. It was serendipitous. I’m still quite pleased with the current arrangment. The enduro takes me any place the camper wont go, and the street legal tag allows me to run the roads back to town whenever I like… and it’s really fun!

Honestly though, my stuff is all a little old. It’s all in good shape, but I could only get tyhings my budget allowed – used things. That’s what makes this possible for anyone. You can really go on the road permanently for the price of a small car, or you can get a new Allegro bus for a few hundred thousand dollars and really live in style! It’s up to you. Of course, if you want to get to some of the places I’m going to show you, a 40′ bus probably won’t due.

It depends on what you feel is more important, luxury or deep exploration. Some rigs give you both but it’s always a compromise.

Hopefully, I can give you some insight, ideas, or inspiration. At the very least, you may be entertained by my adventures. Whatever your reasons for joining me here, I am truly honored to have you here. Thank you. Please relax, enjoy, ask questions if you have them, and join me on my intrepid adventures…The Adventures of Gypsydanger!

  1. You gotta be my long lost twin brother…though, I might be the evil one! I’m preparing to do the same-going nomad-with almost the exact same set-up. Looking forward to reading more about you & your travels. ~Peace

  2. Wow—so much has changed since I wrote the 10-25-2019 post above. Hope you and your gal are healthy & safe.

Noticed you haven’t been uploading videos on YT or maintaining your blog…so my prayers are that you two ARE safe/healthy.

I just had a couple of questions: I’m pretty sure you must have used a hitch extension to pull the Pro-Trac trailer so it wouldn’t hit the sides of your truck camper. If so, what did you use/do? I’m hitting the road in May, 2022 & am trying to find out if it’s better to add a super-duty hitch & extension (Titan—but very expensive!), or to have a welder extend out that V-shaped bar in trailer front? (What is that thing called??) Oh, and did you ever figure out what the gross carrying weight our Pro-Trac trailers can haul?
